My name is Mehmet Yilmaz and I am applying to the PhD program in Computer Science at MIT. Since childhood I have been passionate about computers and technology. I completed my undergraduate degree at Bogazici University with a GPA of 3.7/4.0 and during my studies I worked on several interesting projects. In my thesis project, I developed a machine learning model for detecting anomalies in network traffic. This project was very successful and my advisor was very happy with the results. I have strong programming skills in Python and C++ and I am familiar with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch. I believe that MIT's PhD program is the best choice for me because it has world-class faculty and resources. I am particularly interested in the work being done in the CSAIL lab. I am a hard worker and I am confident that I can succeed in this program. After completing my PhD, I plan to either work in industry or return to Turkey to contribute to the development of the technology sector. I am excited about the opportunity to work with world-class researchers and contribute to the field of computer science.
